Going Gaga for Gucci: Lady Gaga’s luxurious jewellery choices in the House of Gucci
Popstar extraordinaire and Oscar nominated actress Lady Gaga returns to the silver screen in legendary director Ridley Scott’s latest movie, the House of Gucci.
Inspired by the book, The House Of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed, by Sara Gay Forde, the film will chart the story of Patrizia Reggiani and Maurizio Gucci; played by Lady Gaga and Adam Driver respectively; who took control of the Gucci fashion empire, spent exorbitant amounts living their lives of luxury, and then sold the company.
“I would rather weep in a Rolls-Royce than be happy on a bicycle,” is one of Patrizia’s infamous quotes, and it evokes a feeling that very many luxury lovers definitely share. Her exquisite taste isn’t isolated to Rolls Royce’s of course. In playing the part of power-hungry Patrizia, Gaga wears some incredible pieces of jewellery. In this article we are going to show you some of the delectable items, and how you can capture the Gucci glamour for yourself.
Lady Gaga is a woman with a stunning figure and a history of wearing brilliant outfits, and that is no different in this film, but the jewellery choices are what complete her lavish looks. Within the trailer, the most iconic pieces highlighted are from the Italian jewellery house Bvlgari.
Bvlgari is known for its long history of large colourful centrepieces that draw people’s attention, and in many ways they helped drive the fashion for vivid design and larger than life pieces of jewellery in the 1980’s and 1990’s.
One such Bvlgari piece is this panelled necklace, covered with bespoke amethysts and citrines, complete with mounted emeralds, pink tourmalines and sapphires, as well as a collection of diamonds. It is the highest statement of luxury imaginable and looks fit for an Ancient Egyptian leader, and Lady Gaga pulls it off as Patrizia with ease.
When it comes to Italian jewellery, more is always more; but that can be true of jewellery from London as well. To emulate this centrepiece, why not wear an equally alluring Emerald item from London DE who are based in Hatton Garden, the Emerald Enchantress necklace.
Gaga doesn’t just wear that Bvlgari masterpiece though, there is another one included in the trailers of House of Gucci trailer that she wears to a masked ball. Accompanying her red hot dress with a plunging neckline is a Bvlgari diamond necklace, completed by 11 hanging oval rubies that match the colour of her outfit.
Why did the team behind the film choose Bulgari items to embellish Gaga’s performance as the scheming woman who takes over the Gucci fashion empire from the inside? Jewellery expert Brenda Kang said that, “When we think about Italian jewellery, the name Bulgari is the first to come to mind. They were not afraid to be bold and colourful, with a focus on gemstones of top quality.”, and therefore it was an ideal choice to accessorise the movie’s efforts to capture Patrizia’s attitudes towards style as she plotted her business moves.
You too can capture the luxurious allure of deep red rubies of top quality, by wearing this Cushion Ruby and Diamond Ring.
However if classical Italian luxury is less your style, Patrizia does branch out from brilliant ball gowns and Bvlgari necklaces.
Gaga at one point of the film wears a very 80’s skin-tight pink polka dot dress, ornate collar necklace and chunky rings like a knight’s armour as she portrays Patrizia’s odyssey, conquering the Gucci family and taking it over. Her fantastic clothing and jewellery is just another facet of feeding the characters appetite for power and luxury.
One can emulate this powerful attitude through their jewellery choices without needing to kill your ex husband or anyone else in your life, and this Diamond Centre Stone Cluster Ring does just that.
Lady Gaga’s iconic jewellery looks stretch beyond the silver screen and into real life as well, appearing at the Covent Garden premiere of the film wearing an imposing purple Gucci gown that is impossible to avoid. Her look was only accentuated by the Schlumberger Hands necklace and 36 stone bracelet that she wore, along with a slew of other accessories.
You can capture her Red Carpet look, emulating the essence of her striking dress with this Aquamarine and Diamond Halo Ring, which captures the colour of the fabric.
However, we do realise that Gaga and her style isn’t for everyone. If that’s the case, maybe you’d prefer some advice on how to copy Shiv Roy’s style from Succession, or how to emulate Emma Chamberlain’s eclectic jewellery selection.
